  • Paul-Johan Widén organises the first Model United Nations Debate at Zugerberg

    On 4 November 2017, Institut Montana Zugerberg hosted its first Model United Nations conference, the MMUN17. 

    The Swiss Member of Parliament Dr Gerhard Pfister, as well as Delegate of our Board of Directors, addressed the topics education, international relations and equal opportunities from his experiences as a member of the parliamentary commission of foreign affairs. The event was featured in the Zuger Zeitung. 
    We would to thank the MMUN17 Conference Director, Montana Alumnus (class of 2002) and current teacher Paul-Johan Widen, for organising this successful event. 

    “Switzerland urges all member states to establish structures to empower women”.

    What sounds as a debate in the United Nations offices in Geneva or New York, was on 4 November 2017 reality on the Zugerberg. High school students from schools across Switzerland and Germany from more than 30 different nations met at the MMUN17 conference. The debate took place in a United Nations context and is a part of the Swiss International boarding school Institut Montana’s efforts to enhance the international mindedness of the younger generation and to excite them for the United Nations and international cooperation. In addition to the debate, this year’s guest speaker was the Swiss Member of Parliament Dr Gerhard Pfister, as well as Delegate of our Board of Directors, who addressed the topics education, international relations and equal opportunities from his experiences as a member of the parliamentary commission of foreign affairs.
